7 Stars and Stripes
Название государственного флага США [ Flag of the United States]. Утвержден решением Континентального конгресса [ Continental Congresses] 14 июня 1777, которое гласило: "Флаг Соединенных Штатов представляет собой тринадцать полос, поочередно красных и белых, с группой в тринадцать белых звезд на синем поле, представляющих собой новое созвездие" ["The flag of the United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white on a blue field, representing a new constellation"]. 13 чередующихся красных и белых полос символизируют 13 бывших колоний [ Thirteen Colonies], объединившихся в 1776 в единое государство. Сузу [ Sousa, John Philip] на создание известного марша "Звезды и полосы навсегда" ["Stars and Stripes Forever"]English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Stars and Stripes

13 Barbara Frietchie and the Flag
Уиттиера [ Whittier, John Greenleaf] "Барбара Фричи" ["Barbara Frietchie"] (1863).English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Barbara Frietchie and the Flag
